You’re Only 1cm Dilated
“You’re ONLY 1 centimetre dilated” Being told this can be disheartening. It's one of the downsides to examinations in labour.
Consider the potential impact of having that physical examination and then being given information that isn’t what you were hoping for and how that may have an impact on your confidence and affect how your labour progresses.
Whether you choose to have vaginal examinations or not, it's super important to remember that your body is doing lots of wonderful birth prep leading up to the point of dilation.
Plus, it’s no clear indication of when your baby is likely to be born, just a snapshot of what is going on in that moment.
We’ll chat through this more on the course, but in the meantime, please do some research into the pros and cons of physical examinations, they aren’t mandatory, its your choice.
